Semi-Truck Hits, Kills Pedestrian In Adams County
BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) ―
The Colorado State Patrol says authorities now believe the driver of a semi-truck knew that he had struck a pedestrian shortly after the truck exited Interstate 76 in Adams County on Thursday.
Trooper Gilbert Mares says a man was walking east on 88th Avenue when the truck driver turned off the I-76 exit ramp and headed right at about 8:10 a.m. Mares says the right rear corner of the trailer hit the pedestrian, but the driver kept going.
Authorities say witness reports indicate the truck driver blew his horn before striking the pedestrian, and later got out of the truck's cab to inspect the part of the trailer that hit the man.
Authorities have identified the victim only as a 44-year-old Denver man.
His name is not yet being released.
