Paranoid Parents Have New Store To Shop In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) ― A new shop in Cherry Creek is set up to stop parents from worrying about everything when it comes to keeping their kids safe.

The shop is called the Paranoid Parents Stop Worrying Shoppe.

Owner Christie Barnes is the mother of triplet 6-year-olds and an 8-year-old. She said she used to worry about everything and often found that there were conflicting reports about what things were dangerous for kids. That's why Barnes set up a store where she's done all of the research for worried parents.

"I found out I didn't have to worry about half the things that I was," Barnes said.

The store is stocked with items for infants all the way up to teenagers heading off to college.

"So I set up the shop that I wanted to shop in; where everything had been checked with Consumer Reports or the Journal of the Medical Library Association, had won every award there was to earn, that would be fun, and probably educational, but really fun and safe," Barnes said.

Each product has its own information biography, so parents can read about it and understand why it was selected for the store.

"People really need to hone in on the things that are really dangerous, then fix it," Barnes said. "So we've tried to come up with things that will actually help fix those things."

The store is also a meeting spot for Paranoid Parents Anonymous, and for monthly educational seminars.
