Women and men who support Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign gathered at the candidate's Colorado headquarters Wednesday night to watch vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin's speech at the Republican National Convention. The group expected nothing but the best from Palin, and they weren't disappointed.
The group also made phone calls to grassroots supporters before the speech was delivered.
"Gov. Palin did an excellent job of showing her experience and what she can bring to the campaign, she was extremely energetic," said Matt Millner. "She really distanced herself from a lot of the media criticism that's been offered by media pundits in recent weeks, about her experience running a small town, she's really shown that she's the strong candidate that McCain believes that she is."
"I'm amazed that she's been allowed to stand up to all the media attention on her little 17-year-old daughter, and the fact that she avoided that, because it isn't part of the presidential campaign," said Ardis Dolezal.
"Her guts, her feistiness, her humor, her sweetness, her compassion, I think her confidence in McCain is palpable, she offered a story and how he understood compassion for suffering for his country, and pointing out that he's the only candidate that has really suffered for his country, although that's a popular thing for people to say in their campaigns," said Lawrence Depenbusch.
"She was so graceful, so confident, the crowd that she spoke to, it didn't seem to affect her, she was so confident," said Caseena Henning. "Not really, honestly, I have done my research on her."
The supporters at McCain's headquarters left Wednesday night anxious to hear from McCain on Thursday night. They said Palin set him up well.
