Jury Finds Sir Mario Owens Guilty Of Murder

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4/AP) ― An Arapahoe County jury has found Sir Mario Owens guilty Wednesday on two counts of first degree murder. Owens was charged with killing a man who was scheduled to testify against him.

He was also found guilty on five other counts and the jury was hung on the aggravated intimidation of a witness charge he faced.

A death penalty hearing for Owens will begin on Monday. It could take several weeks.

The case involves the 2005 shooting deaths of Javad Marshall-Fields and Marshall-Fields' fiancee, Vivian Wolfe.

Marshall-Fields was to testify against Owens and another man in a separate shooting death. Owens was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison in that case.

"This time is too premature for me to speculate about that," said Rhonda Fields, one of the victim's mother. "I'm just really glad we're at the point right now where we can say we have a guilty verdict and we'll see what happens down the road."
