Woman, 30, Killed When Ejected From SUV Near Nucla

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) ― The Colorado State Patrol says alcohol is suspected as a factor in a one-vehicle rollover crash that killed a Naturita woman.

Authorities say 30-year-old Toni Carver was riding in a Ford Bronco that overturned Saturday night on the Uncompahgre Plateau near Nucla.

Trooper Garrett Reich says the driver of the vehicle was apparently doing donuts in front of a gravel pile near the Cottonwood Campground, then tried to climb the pile in the Bronco. The vehicle didn't make it and rolled, ejecting Carver.

She was pinned underneath the vehicle and died at the scene. Reich says the 1969 Bronco did not have seat belts.

The driver, 33-year-old Robert Greenwood of Naturita, was not hurt.

He's being held on suspicion of vehicular homicide.
