Mediation Offers Solution To Neighbor Disputes

DENVER (CBS4) ― Disagreements between neighbors, even minor situations, can escalate into violent situations. Regardless of the nature of the dispute, there is a service available to resolve neighborhood disputes, mediation.

Several communities offer mediation help. Community Mediation Concepts is a non-profit service that tries to find a way to resolve neighborhood disputes peacefully.

Whether it involves barking dogs, fences or more serious issues, the mediation service helps settle disputes.

"We can provide the mediator, we can provide a safe place and can sit down, you can sit down and we'll work out whatever the issues are," said Steve Charbonneau, Community Mediation Concepts.

Charbonneau said 90 percent of the time they are able to resolve disputes with written agreements.

The subject of the dispute doesn't matter. What this mediation service does is contact the parties involved and arrange a neutral place to meet. Usually in one session, lasting an hour and a half, the dispute is resolved with a signed letter of agreement.
