Tiny Horse Helps Colorado Alzheimer's Patients

DENVER (CBS4) ― The Alzheimer's Association of Colorado is using a tiny horse to help patients. The miniature horse is named Rainey.

She visits Alzheimer's and dementia patients at nursing homes and assisted living facilities.

The Alzheimer's association says pet therapy is an important part of their treatment.

"Rainy's hugely popular," says Sara Spaulding with the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado. "Kids as well as seniors just really enjoy the opportunity to spend time with Rainy and it brings up a lot of memories particularly for people who have lived on farms when they were children."

Rainy is certified and she's been specially trained by the Delta Society.
