A bridal store in Lakewood gave away more than 100 dresses Sunday to the brides-to-be of military service members who have fought in Iraq or Afghanistan. The event was part of a nationwide effort called Brides Across America.
d'Anelli Bridal was one of 18 stores nationwide that took part in honor of Veterans Day.
Some of the brides were lined up at 4 a.m.
Nearly all of the designer gowns were brand new. Others who heard about the event donated their wedding dresses.
The gowns retailed for anywhere from hundreds of dollars up to $4,000.
Some of the brides said it was a relief to save money on their wedding dresses.
"Yeah, it helps out a lot, I think it's great for this company and who it's affiliated with to honor the soldiers and of course their families, so it's really a special thing," one woman said.
