Wounded Soldier Helps Fellow Wounded Soldier

Slideshow: Colorado Soldiers Killed In Iraq

Section: Serving With Honor

(CBS4) It was a story of soldiers helping soldiers Sunday when Matt Keil, who was left paralyzed in the war in Iraq, and his wife, Tracy, presented a check to Cesar Mendoza and his wife, Beatriz.

Mendoza is medically retired from the Army after being injured in Iraq. Beatriz was left a quadriplegic after a motorcycle accident.

The Mendozas said disability from the military isn't enough to pay the bills.

They were given $5,000 to help buy a handicapped van.

"People who are injured don't know about all these charities," Keil said. "So the more awareness we can raise the better it's going to be."

The Keil's donated $1,000. The rest came from money generated from Colorado's Support the Troops license plates.
