84-year-old Man Killed In Lakewood Crash
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) ―
Lakewood police have released the name of a man who died after he turned his pickup into the path of an off-duty Denver officer.
Authorities say 84-year-old Ormal J. Jones was northbound on Kipling Parkway at about 8:30 a.m. Monday when he turned left in front of a southbound pickup and the two trucks collided.
Jones, and 29-year-old Gregory J. Vacca, were taken to area hospitals. Jones died a short time later, but Vacca's injuries were not considered life threatening.
Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis says Vacca had just completed the night shift with the Denver Police Department.
Investigators are awaiting test results to determine whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
