The idea behind CBS4's Pay it Forward Colorado project is to give $1,000 to a Coloradan (or group of Coloradans) who will use the money to change someone else's life. Below lies CBS4's March 6 report.
LOVELAND, Colo (CBS4) - A Loveland woman faces felony charges for stealing money from a Boy Scout Troop. Loveland police say that Shawna Marie Parker, 31, was treasurer for Boy Scout troop No. 184 when she started stealing money from the troop little by little.
Investigators say she took $7,000 between July 2007 and January 2008, that was most of the savings the troop had set aside to pay for a camping trip in Montana this summer. Troop leaders say it was a tough lesson for the boys.
"It made me upset," one troop member told CBS4.
"I felt kind of shocked that somebody would do that, that we actually know," another member said.
When Marcia Prevost saw the Boy Scouts' story, she knew what she had to do. Prevost lives in Phoenix but watches the Colorado news on satellite. She wrote to CBS4 asking for $1,000 to pay it forward.
"I hope this will help them to buy the supplies for their campaign trip," Prevost wrote to the TV station.
Prevost is hoping the scouts will learn a new lesson about kindness as she pays it forward to pay them back.
