Web Site Offers Virtual Trainer For Busy People

BROOMFIELD, Colo. (CBS4) ― A new Web site that combines personalized workouts with portable video technology lets people have their own virtual trainer come into their home for under $2.

Jen Lesea Ames, a personal fitness trainer at Lakeshore Athletic Club, said she has heard all the excuses to get out of exercise: No time, no money, travel and the kids. So, she created a first of its kind "virtual" workout for almost anyone, anywhere.

"We have over 100 video clips," Ames said. "Ranging from strength training to yoga to Tai Chi to Pilates, so it's customizable."

Fitwisetraining.com is the latest in online fitness. There are high-quality video clips that can be downloaded to an iPod, laptop and a even cell phone.

Fifteen pre-packaged programs, with 8 to 10 exercises, are offered for $9.99 each, or individual exercises are sold for $1.99.

"I call it the iTunes of fitness," Ames said. "People can select certain exercises they want to do."

The Web site is perfect for people like Tom Nelson, who travels 100,000 miles a year for business.

"Now I'm able to go into the gym or hotel room and pick out what I want to do," Nelson said. "Then look at the clips and remind myself what that exercise is supposed to look like."

It can also be customized to fit a hotel's facilities.

"Some of them have a universal weight machine, some have dumbbells and bench and some just have a ball, mat and treadmill," Nelson said.

Those who don't see exercises they like should check back on the Web site often because Ames said she adds new exercises virtually every month.

"We're just in the first wave of what's to come," Ames said.

Fitwisetraining.com includes a specific travel workout for people who spend a lot of time on the road.
