Lafayette Officer Cleared In Suspect's Death

LAFAYETTE, Colo. (CBS4) ― Police in Lafayette reportedly cleared an officer who shot a suspect last year with a TASER. The suspect later died.

Ryan Wilson, 22, died last August after Officer John Harris deployed the TASER.

Police said Wilson was running from officers who were responding to a tip of marijuana being grown in a field and it appeared Wilson was reaching for a knife.

Prosecutors determined in October no criminal charges would be filed against Harris.

Boulder County Coroner Thomas Faure concluded earlier that Wilson died of an irregular heartbeat caused by a combination of exertion, the stun-gun shock and a heart condition present since birth.
