The children at Kyffin Elementary School in Golden won a great honor Friday. They're the first winners in CBS4's Fit 4 Colorado School Challenge.
CBS4, along with our partners at America on the Move, chose Kyffin Elementary as a school challenge winner because they're making healthy changes at their school.
CBS4 Meteorologist Stacy Donaldson congratulated the kids and talked to them about what's healthy in their lives.
The celebration was for the school-wide effort to promote healthy living including healthy snacks, the Sports of Sorts after school program, and including kindergarteners in regular physical education classes.
"It doesn't take a lot to have a healthy lifestyle," physical education teacher Candy Pulst said. "We are going to invest it in getting some fitness supplies to help students be introduced to different types of things like the balance balls, resistance fans, small medicine balls; that kind of thing."
The school received $1,000 to promote health and fitness.
