Breakfast With Brooke is a weekly interview series with CBS4 Morning News anchor Brooke Wagner that airs on Friday mornings on CBS4. Read about or watch more reports in the Breakfast With Brooke section.
In 1976, Bruce Jenner became an American icon. After winning the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon, he became known as "the World's Greatest Athlete." Jenner's victorious image graced Wheaties cereal boxes and 20-foot billboards. Yet, 32 years later, Jenner told CBS4's Brooke Wagner, he doesn't dwell on that Olympic glory.
"To be honest with you, I don't want that in my life any more, because you have to give up too much of life for this one little area called sports. Sports is not the main game in life...but you take that period when you were 22 to 26 and worked that hard to be able to accomplish it, it's the most satisfying thing in the world," said Jenner. "You can always say, in 1976, I was the best in the world at what I did. And you can take that all the way to your grave."

"That little performance back in 1976 still lives. It didn't die. It still helps to motivate people," Jenner said. "I try to instill in them, through myself, because I lived the dream, that we can overcome these obstacles and do tremendous things with our lives."
Jenner said, in these economic times, his advice makes particular sense.
"During the down times, you just have to stay positive, you just have to look to the future. Day after day, eventually you're really going to have something and the economy will get better. It's inevitable. You've just got to be ready for it when it does," Jenner said.
These days, Bruce Jenner also enjoys a new generation of fans. The sports broadcasting veteran now has a hit reality TV show with his family, called "Keeping up with the Kardashians," on the E! Network.
"They finished season three and they put me through all kinds of Hell trying to keep me hip and cool," said Jenner. "I've always been kind of the jock of the family, and I have for the last 18 years, grown up with these fashionista girls who are into style and it's pretty much all the girls in the house and me. But, I haven't changed - I haven't let them change me!"
The show follows Jenner's large California household, which includes wife Kris Jenner and well-known daughter Kim Kardashian. Jenner's fan base now spans decades.
"It's just pretty funny, when you go through an airport, it's a whole different group of people. I'm a baby boomer, that's my audience. But this is kind of fun," Jenner said.
In all, Jenner has ten children and stepchildren. He said raising them makes him more proud than his athletic feats.
"My biggest accomplishment, by far, is raising ten children ... and surviving," Jenner said.
