Dobson Protested As He Enters Radio Hall Of Fame

CHICAGO (CBS4) ― The founder of Focus on the Family in Colorado is the newest member of the Radio Hall of Fame.

James Dobson was inducted Saturday night in Chicago.

"I simply want to say thank you everybody and it is a great pleasure to receive this award, thank you," Dobson said.

As Dobson drew handshakes, outside he drew protesters. They claimed Dobson does not deserve to be honored because he uses the airwaves to spread a message of hate, specifically against gays and lesbians.

"If you're advocating the taking away of rights for a whole group of people, you may be a Christian, you may be any number of other things, but one thing you certainly are, is you are hater, and you are a bigot. James Dobson is a bigot," Andy Thayer with the Gay Liberation Network said.

Dobson is against same-sex marriages and supported the passage of a ban on gay marriage in California.
