2 Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On Interstate 70
PARACHUTE, Colo. (AP) ―
Two people are dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 in Garfield County.
The Colorado State Patrol says 71-year-old Bruce H. Edmondson of Aspen was heading east in the westbound lanes of I-70 about 1:15 a.m. Thursday when his Toyota MR2 slammed head-on into a Honda sedan.
Both vehicles spun counter clockwise before coming to rest on the roadway, about 7 miles west of Parachute.
The Garfield County coroner pronounced both drivers dead at the scene. Authorities say the Honda driver was 28-year-old Alexander R. Taft of Chicago.
Trooper Gilbert Mares says alcohol use on Edmondson's part may have played a role in the crash.
