Fisherman Drowns In Horsetooth Reservoir

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) ― A 54-year-old fisherman died Monday after drowning in Horsetooth Reservoir outside Fort Collins, officials said.

Witnesses said the fisherman was trying to dock his boat at Satanka Cove on the north end of the reservoir when it started floating away at about 2 p.m. He then jumped in and tried to retrieve the boat but was unsuccessful and started to swim back to shore, then went under the water.

Witnesses jumped in and were able to get the man to shore where emergency responders performed CPR on him. The man was then airlifted to Medical Center of the Rockies where he later died.

The medical examiner identified the man as Richard P. Weisel of Fort Collins.
