Hairy Contest Helps Mark Colorado's Past
BLACK HAWK, Colo. (CBS4) ―
People with beards of all shapes and sized competed in the whisker tournament in Black Hawk on Wednesday.
The contest was held in celebration of John H. Gregory Day, the man credited with helping get the gold rush started in Colorado back in the 1800s.
Winners were judged in categories like new growth, old growth and moustaches.
One winner said it didn't take long to make his decision about entering the contest.
"Jan. 1 (was) when I first started this. It's a full beard. I saw the ad in the newspaper and thought this is something I have got to do," said Louis.
