Oprah's Favorite Ice Cream Coming To King Soopers

DENVER (CBS4) ― Oprah Winfrey's self-proclaimed best tasting and nationally renowned ice cream will be available in 30 select King Soopers throughout Denver starting at the end of the month.

Richard Graeter will be coming to Denver from June 30 to July 2 to introduce his family's super-premium ice cream.

Graeter said his company is thrilled to bring the ice cream to Denver especially because of their great relationship with Kroger, the parent company of King Soopers.

Another reason Denver was chosen was that people in the mile high city love great ice cream more than any other city in the nation, by a margin of three to one, according to the Premium Ice Cream Index cited in a company press release.

The initial flavors that will be available at stores are: Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Vanilla Chocolate Chip, Butter Pecan (Oprah's favorite), and Graeters signature flavor, Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip.

Graeters ice cream is made two gallons at a time using the French Pot Process. The process starts with fresh cream, 100 percent cane sugar, and other all-natural ingredients, which are then slowly chilled and gently folded together.

The process might be slow, but well worth it. Graeters tag line that states, "You'll melt when you taste it, alluding to the soft chunks of chocolate in the ice cream."

The ice cream has people hooked including celebrities such as: Sarah Jessica Parker, George Clooney, Bobby Flay, Ashley Judd, Tony Kornheiser, and David Letterman to name a few.

Graeters is one of the oldest family-owned ice cream makers in the country starting in the late 1800's.
