Investigators with the Pleasant View Fire Department are trying to figure out if a remodeling project played a role in a fire that destroyed a home Thursday night.
The fire was in Golden in the 1500 block of Salvia Court around 10 p.m. No one was hurt.
It was like a torch lighting up the night sky. Flames shot into the air - a light show no one expected to see.
"Within 2 minutes the whole front of the house was on fire," said neighbor Lee Spatafora.
Fire crews from Pleasant View were assisted by engines from West Metro and Golden.
"When fire crews responded they reported seeing flames from our station which is about a mile away," said Fire Marshall Ryan Holland. "So they called for additional resources."
The flames burned for nearly an hour before being extinguished. The home was undergoing remodeling at the time. It's not known if that was a factor in the cause of this fire but it was certainly a factor in the lack of injuries.
A man in a wheelchair lived in the home, along with his wife. They weren't at home at the time.
"Oh, thank God for little favors. Amen," said homeowner Walt Queen.
Their concern was not so much for their house as their Yorkshire Terriers who were in the home. Firefighters say 16 dogs and puppies that were in a kennel in the house did survive.
