Explosion Hits Grand County Mobile Homes

GRANBY, Colo. (CBS4) ― An explosion at a mobile home north of Granby Wednesday night destroyed the structure and three others. Two other mobile homes were also damaged.

The blast happened about 8 p.m. on Highway 34, about six miles north of Granby.

Witnesses said there was an initial explosion and then several smaller ones.

The fire spread to several other mobile homes. One outbuilding was also destroyed.

There was no word of injuries. Authorities planned to return Thursday to do a more extensive search.

The Grand County Sheriff's Department said one of the mobile homes was occupied. The others appeared to be summer residences.

The highway was closed for 3 hours while firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
