Early Voting Begins In Some Colorado Counties
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) ―
Early voting started Saturday in a handful of Colorado counties. Arapahoe, Boulder, El Paso and Montezuma counties opened polling places.
Turnout was light. At a polling place in Boulder, 136 people showed up to cast ballots.
More than 15,000 have already mailed in their votes in Boulder.
The Boulder County Clerk predicts the growing popularity of mail-in ballots will cut the poll place lines on primary day, Aug. 12, in half.
"We're kind of in new territory because in addition to early voting, we have the permanent mail-in voter now, and we've seen a dramatic increase in that, so I would anticipate at least 50 percent of the votes will be case before election day," Hillary Hall, the Boulder County Clerk & Recorder said.
Early voting continues Monday and through the week.
