Click To Opt Out Of Unwanted Phone Book Delivery

DENVER (CBS4) ― A new program allows people to choose just which white or yellow pages they want delivered to their home. The online program from Dex allows customers to select the directories they want, or allows them to stop delivery altogether.

The program is called "Select Your Dex."

But it won't save any trees. "We don't cut down any trees for the production of new phone books," said Peter Larmey, a spokesman for Dex. He said only recycled materials are used to make the new white and yellow page directories.

The program does help the environment by reducing the need to recycle or dispose of unneeded directories.

Here's how it works. Log on to the DexKnows Web site and click on the "Select Your Dex" section. Once there, choose which phone books you want and how many. Fill out the application with name, address, phone number, and E-mail.

The next phone book distribution in the Denver metro area by Dex is at the end of December and lasts a couple of weeks.

In order to process your customized order for upcoming delivery, complete the online filing by Nov. 18.

Dex is the largest phone book supplier in America's west.
