Man Committed In Fatal Shooting Dies After Surgery

DENVER (AP) ― Authorities say a man who was committed to the state mental hospital after a fatal shooting has died after surgery for an undisclosed ailment.

Pueblo County Coroner James Krammer said Tuesday that Anthony Wade Law died last week.

Krammer says he doesn't know why Law was having surgery. The cause of death hasn't been determined, but Krammer says but it appears Law died of natural causes.

Law was 41. He was found not guilty by reason of insanity and committed to the State Mental Institute in Pueblo after the 2006 shooting death of 43-year-old Kathy DeBell near the front door of an Englewood Kmart where she worked.

A shopper, 30-year-old Claudia Nunez, was wounded.
