Denver To Install Meters That Take Plastic
DENVER (CBS4) ―
The city of Denver will unveil new parking meters Thursday that will allow people to pay with credit and debit cards as well as coins. The meters will be installed in mid-November along 10 city blocks in Lower Downtown.
The company that makes the meters said they use cell phone technology to transmit the credit card information.
"It's a very handy, convenient idea, they've got that key you can purchase now but this seems like it would be more efficient to use a credit card," said one man downtown Wednesday.
Business owners said they're often being asked to make change so people can pay the meters. They're hoping this gives them a bit of a break.
Denver also plans to install similar technology in the Cherry Creek area.
