May Promises To Be Great For Denver Theater-Goers

DENVER (CBS4) ― The arrival of May means new shows are coming to Denver's theater scene, starting with "A Chorus Line." It opened May 4 at the Buell Theater.

"Chorus Line" is the classic story of a dancer's life on Broadway: the highs and the lows, and why the performers are even trying to succeed on the Great White Way. The show was revived several years ago and has enjoyed great success on Broadway. Now it is on a national tour.

This is a great chance to see the properly show, whether you've never seen it or if you've seen it a hundred times, it's always best on stage with a live cast.

May also brings "3 Mo' Divas" to the Stage Theater of the Denver Performing Arts Complex. It opens on May 9. It is created by Marion J. Caffey, who created the show "3 Mo' Tenors."

"It really celebrates the versatility of the female voice," said Caffey. "I call them the most versatile voices on the planet."

The show encompasses classical, pop, Broadway, R&B and gospel music in what seems to be a concert but the show develops interesting characters along the way.

Also coming this month, "Mamma Mia" at the Buell. It's a great chance to see the show on stage before the Meryl Streep movie comes out.

The Boulder Dinner Theater will open "The Will Rogers Follies" on May 9.
