Fire Engulfs Littleton Home
Denver House Fire Forces 5 Out Into Cold
LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) ―
A fire in Littleton seriously damaged a house at mid-day Thursday. Smoke from the blaze could be seen in the skies across the southwest metro area.
Firefighters were called to 7202 S. Yukon at about 11:15 a.m. Flames engulfed the home when crews arrived.
A CBS4 News photographer noticed the smoke and arrived at the scene before firefighters got there.
Crews were still overhauling the home more than an hour after the fire was reported.
Neighbors had called dispatchers to report the fire. No one was home at the time.
A fire in Denver early Thursday morning was apparently accidental. The flames at 540 Utica forced five members of a family out of the house.
A 59-year-old woman was hospitalized with smoke inhalation but was expected to recover.
Firefighters said there was heavy damage, but the home wasn't a total loss.
