Suspect In Deadly Denver Shooting Arrested

DENVER (AP) ― A man suspected in the deadly shooting of another man in west Denver Monday night was arrested by police Wednesday night in Aurora, officers said.

Juan Jose Coronado-Avila, 31, was taken into custody near 10th and Havana Street by the Denver Police Fugitive Unit and the Fugitive Location and Apprehension Group.

Coronado is the suspect in the shooting death of Jorge Omar Valdez, 29. Coronado is in the Denver Jail under investigation of first degree murder.

Denver police were called to 9th Avenue and Winona Court at about 8:05 p.m. Monday after a shooting. Officers found Valdez lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a white colored Ford F-150 crew cab pickup. Denver Police have recovered a Ford F-150 pickup truck.
