Acoustics Designer Russell Johnson Dies At 83

The man whose firm designed the acclaimed acoustics for several of the world's leading concert and opera venues, as well as one in Colorado, has died.
Russell Johnson died in his sleep Tuesday at his home in New York.
He was 83.
Johnson's firm, Artec Consultants Inc., was responsible for a host of new and renovated concert halls in cities around the world, including Birmingham, England; Edmonton, Canada; Lucerne, Switzerland; Sao Paulo, Brazil; Toronto; Singapore and Paris.
The firm also worked on the Centre-in-the-Square in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada; and the Pikes Peak Center near Colorado Springs.
Johnson founded the firm in 1970 and served as chairman until his death.
