Denver Fire Names 1st Female Assistant Fire Chief

DENVER (CBS4) ― The Denver Fire Department announced the promotion of its first female Assistant Fire Chief.

Angela Cook and ten other Denver firefighters were honored at a promotional ceremony Tuesday.

Cook was appointed to the Denver Fire Department March 1, 1992. She's had numerous assignments over her 15-year career. She's received several commendations during her career with the department.

"We are extremely proud of Angela in her accomplishments and in the character of her person," Interim Fire Chief James Sestrich said in a prepared statement.

Cook has two sons.
