18-Year-Old Man Killed In Logan County Rollover

DENVER (AP) ― Authorities now say excessive speed, but not alcohol, is suspected as a contributing factor in a one-vehicle rollover that killed an 18-year-old man.

The Colorado State Patrol says Michael L. Wood of Peetz, Colo., was driving southbound on Logan County Road 37 about 4:15 p.m. Thursday when his 1987 Toyota pickup rotated off the right side of the road.

The truck rolled several times and hit a fence, ejecting the driver.

The Logan County coroner pronounced Wood dead at the scene.

A CSP news release stated earlier that alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, but Trooper Gilbert Mares said later that further investigation found it was not.

Peetz is near the Nebraska state line, about 125 miles northeast of Denver.
