12 People Hurt In Huerfano County Crash
WALSENBURG, Colo. (AP) ―
A 16-year-old boy is facing multiple charges after a one-vehicle crash in Huerfano County that injured him and 11 other people.
The Colorado State Patrol says nine teenagers -- including the driver -- and three 12-year-olds were hurt when the pickup truck they were in crashed into an irrigation ditch about 11:05 p.m. Monday. The driver said he lost control of the Chevrolet 1500 pickup on a county road when he swerved to avoid a dog.
Eight passengers who were sitting in the bed of the pickup were ejected. Three other passengers who were sitting in the cab were not wearing seat belts.
Six of the victims were treated at a hospital. The others were treated at the scene.
The driver is from Pueblo. The passengers are from Walsenburg.
