Fire Breaks Out In Conifer Amid Dry Conditions
CONIFER, Colo. (AP) ―
Firefighters have contained a small grass fire that prompted an evacuation order for 47 homes in the foothills town of Conifer.
Authorities say the fire was ignited on Friday by embers from a house fire.
Annie Igle of the Elk Creek Fire Protection District said Friday the evacuation order was expected to be lifted shortly.
The fire was reported at about 11:30 a.m. Authorities say the evacuation order was precautionary and was issued by reverse-911 calls.
Conifer is 20 miles southwest of Denver.
