A carbon monoxide alarm

Some students got an important lesson on Sunday about the dangers of carbon monoxide.
Students at Arkansas Elementary were invited to bring their parents to a fire station in Aurora. Firefighters helped families design a fire escape plan and also taught them about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.
"It's air that can kill you," student Allan Banuelos said. "It's like you can't taste it, you can't smell it, or you can't see it."
"Since carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless and you can't recognize it without a detector, it's very important to have that in the house," Lt. Diane Schroeder with Aurora fires said.
Aurora fire gave away about 80 CO detectors.
Earlier this year, Colorado lawmakers passed a law requiring all newly built or sold homes and apartments to have a CO detector on each floor.
