DENVER (AP) ― The attorney for Denver Broncos player Marcus Thomas says drug possession charges against the defensive tackle have been dropped.

Attorney Charles Truncale says authorities in Clay County Fla., decided to not file charges against Thomas, who was arrested in March after police said they found cocaine and a handgun in a pickup truck during a traffic stop.

Truncale says Thomas got a ride from friend Bryce Carter after going out drinking near his hometown of Jacksonville. Police arrested both men and Thomas spent a night in jail.

The Broncos later said Carter admitted the cocaine was his.

The Broncos drafted Thomas in 2007.
