Emergency crews on the scene of a tanker rollover in Adams County say it could take until Wednesday evening to clean up the mess and reopen an Interstate 76 on-ramp.
Colorado State Patrol Trooper David Hall says the tanker hauling 8,500 gallons of gasoline rolled over at about 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The tanker went down an embankment and came to rest on the edge of a rail line near a water supply reservoir for the city of Thornton. Authorities say the reservoir was not contaminated.
Hall says the cleanup process could take 12 hours because crews have to work delicately to avoid sparking a fire.
Authorities say the driver, 34-year-old Julio Perez of Denver, was working for Nevada-based WSI Transport.
He suffered minor injuries.
