Cooler Weather To Help Fight Pinon Canyon Fire
PINON CANYON MANEUVER SITE, Colo. (CBS4) ―
Firefighters believe cooler and cloudy weather Monday will help improve their 55 percent containment on the fire that started on Fort Carson's training ground in southeastern Colorado. New estimates have the size of the Pinon Canyon wildfire at 45,800 acres.
The fire was estimated at 43,000 acres on Sunday when low humidity and shifting winds tested the fire lines.
The winds did blow the flames outside the Army's maneuver site and onto private ranch land earlier in the weekend.
