Boy Scouts Push Ahead After Money Stolen

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4) ― Boy Scout Troop 184 in Loveland is determined to not let missing money ruin its mission. One of the scout's mother was treasurer and is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the group.

Shawna Marie Parker allegedly stole money for the troop's operating expenses and camping equipment.

She was elected treasurer last summer.

"She would make up excuses," said Dennice Aleman, the mother of another scout. "Every time I'd ask her, 'how much money does he have?' You'd have to come to this meeting to get this information, she never had it with her."

Aleman said her son felt bad about the people who donated money to him and the troop.

CBS4 went to Parker's home Tuesday, but no one came to the door to talk.

She turned herself in a couple of weeks ago and was released on bond. Her next court date has not been set.

The troop is raising money to replace the stolen funds. Send donations to:
