Lawyers Don't Want Blogging At Midyette Trial

DENVER (AP) ― Prosecutors and defense attorneys want to prevent blogging out of fear witnesses could learn what's happening inside the courtroom before they testify in the Jan. 12 trial of a man accused of causing the death of his 11-week-old son.

Alex Midyette, 29, faces charges in the 2006 death of Jason, who had more than 20 broken bones. The boy's mother, Molly, was convicted in December 2007 of failing to get him medical attention and is serving a 16-year sentence.

The joint motion filed Monday seeks to ban cell phones and computers.

Boulder District Judge Lael Montgomery on Monday granted a defense request to keep TV cameras out because of the prejudicial effect they could have on a jury in Denver, where the trial was moved to from Boulder because of pretrial publicity.
