Wednesday Child Siblings Find Forever Family

PARKER, Colo. (CBS4) ― At the Lifetime Fitness Center in Parker, AJ and Sara get harnessed up for a turn at the climbing walls. It's their favorite thing to do while they're at the gym, and now they have a family to cheer them on.

"They're awesome," Sara told CBS4.

"They're really kind and generous," AJ said.

AJ and Sara spent years in the foster care system. CBS4 profiled them on the weekly Wednesday's Child segment. They were learning about firefighting at the Denver Children's Museum when they told us how much they longed for a forever family.

"I want a family, too. Right now. This instant!" AJ said two years ago.

Now that wish has come true. John and Camille were looking to expand their family and through adoption was the way to go.

"John has a sister that was adopted at an older age, so we were familiar with some of the challenges that we'd be facing," Camille said.

The couple had two girls already and they were looking for siblings that were a little older.

"We were looking for siblings because we knew the two of them would have support in each other, as well as being able to blend into our family," John added.

They have blended perfectly into the family. John and Camille say they feel well supported by programs through the Adoption Exchange, County Social Services, and Catholic Charities. They feel completely comfortable helping the kids make the transition from foster care to a permanent home.

"I can't even imagine not having them anymore, to be honest with you," Camille said.

"I think too that they've begun to feel more comfortable and settled; so they can learn better, they can grow, and they can also develop some other skills," John said.

AJ and Sara are growing up strong surrounded by the love that they need and deserve. Both kids agree that adoption is so important in the lives of children.

"Because everyone needs to be loved," AJ added.
