Denver Families Celebrate Adoption Day

DENVER (CBS4) ― Denver families are celebrated Friday after they officially welcomed their adopted children into their homes.

It's was the fifth annual Denver Adoption Day. Judges and magistrates finalized the adoption of more than 40 children.

CBS4's Ed Green took part in the event and talked about the importance of adopting.

"Even though we're joining these 40 plus families today we must keep in mind that the need to find permanent families for foster children is an ongoing endeavor," Ed said. "There are more than 550 children just here in Colorado waiting to be adopted.
The Denver event coincided with the National Adoption Day. Right now there are 114,000 children in foster care across the country.
