I-70 Reopens In Aurora After Fiery Crash

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) ― An accident involving two semi trucks and several cars closed westbound Interstate 70 at E-470 for more than 5 hours Friday as rescue crews worked to clear wreckage and save people trapped in cars. One of those cars was on fire after the crash.

The incident happened at about 8:25 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate.

The eastbound lanes were closed for a time while a medical helicopter landed to evacuate at least one seriously injured patient.

Authorities said no one was killed. One adult male was airlifted to a hospital, while at least two others were transported by ambulance.

The Colorado State Patrol was working to determine the cause of the crash.

Traffic coming towards Denver was backed up for miles until the westbound lanes reopened at 1:49 p.m.
