Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall Stops In Thornton

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) ― The Fourth of July brought another opportunity to honor fallen troops. The City of Thornton is hosting the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall.

The Thornton Veterans Foundation brought the wall to town. The group is trying to raise money for a permanent veteran's memorial for the city.

"The City of Thornton actually, you know, over 15 percent of our population is veterans. We have had residents that have served in every war since the Korean War," Tony Hake with the Thornton Veterans Foundation said. "Thornton was founded by World War II veterans, so the lineage for veterans in Thornton is very long."

The Traveling Memorial Wall will be on display until Sunday night at 108th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard.

It's open 24-hours a day.
