Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin visited Colorado as part of her national book tour.
Palin signed copies of her bestselling book "Going Rogue" at a Borders book store in Colorado Springs Tuesday evening.
Despite frigid weather, hundreds of people lined up starting at 5 a.m. to get a color-coded wrist bands, indicating their place in line that will allow them to get into the book signing. About 1,000 were distributed.
"This is truly a grass-roots effort in the beginnings and I'm here to support Sarah," a man in line said. "My book says, 'I promise to run for president,' and I'm going to have her sign underneath it."
The mall estimated that about 800 people were in line in the morning.
"She's a connection to the women of America. She has a mentally-challenged child, she has a teenage daughter who got pregnant; that happens and real issues, real honest-to-goodness issues that women in America face every day," said a woman waiting in line.
Colorado Springs police were present at the mall for crowd control.
The book signing was scheduled to run from 7 to 10 p.m. and organizers say Palin was signing books at a rate of 700 per hour.
"If she doesn't run there is going to be a lot of disappointed people here, that's for sure," a man said.
