County Makes Carbon Monoxide Detectors Mandatory

DENVER (CBS4) ― Carbon monoxide detectors are now mandatory in homes in Pitkin County.

The new regulations follow the deaths of a Denver family that was vacationing in Aspen.

The Lofgren family was overcome by carbon monoxide while staying in this home in November.

Parker and Caroline Lofgren and their children Sophie and Owen, were visiting the house for the Thanksgiving holiday. It did not have carbon monoxide detecters installed.

Pitkin County residents have until March 2 to get detectors in their homes.
