A Denver middle school principal no longer faces a charge for allegedly failing to report allegations of abuse for an incident in a classroom.
A judge on Friday ruled that 37-year-old Nicole Veltze did not act willfully or wantonly to thwart the law. Veltze faced the charge for an incident that happened Dec. 14.
Court records indicate that two boys who allegedly inappropriately touched a girl in class at Skinner Middle School were immediately suspended by Veltze, who then called the girl's mother. The law requires immediate reporting to police.
Denver Public School officials, Denver police and social services are working on reporting procedures. Prosecutors are deciding whether to appeal the judges decision.
