Man Pleads Not Guilty In '75 Grand Junction Deaths

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) ― A trucker has pleaded not guilty to stabbing and killing a Grand Junction mother and daughter in 1975.

Jerry Nemnich, 65, entered his plea Tuesday in Mesa County District Court. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder and single counts of first- and second-degree burglary.

He is accused of killing 24-year-old Linda Benson and her 5-year-old daughter, Kelley, inside their apartment in July 1975.

Nemnich was arrested this year after testing revealed that blood found at the apartment matched Nemnich's DNA profile.

A three-week trial is scheduled to begin April 19.
