Author Says 'Sahara' Producers Didn't Listen

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Jurors considering allegations pitting best-selling author Clive Cussler and Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz heard clips of a deposition Cussler gave in 2005.

Cussler said he sued the makers of the film version of his book "Sahara" because they hadn't listened to him and made his agent mad.

Cussler alleges Crusader Entertainment, owned by Anschutz, breached a contract giving Cussler absolute approval of the script until filming began.

Crusader, in turn, is suing Cussler, accusing him of dooming the movie by being uncooperative and bad-mouthing it to the media.

Anschutz's company claims about $80 million in losses on "Sahara," which starred Matthew McConaughey and Penelope Cruz.

The trial is in Los Angeles.
