Woman Arrested In SUV On GJ Airport Runway
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) ―
A 36-year-old woman is facing charges of driving under the influence after she allegedly drove a sport utility vehicle onto a runway at Grand Junction Regional Airport.
Air traffic control personnel notified Grand Junction police about an unauthorized person on a runway between 2:30 and 3 a.m. Monday.
Police said they found Jamie Bowden in an SUV near the Twin Otter Hangar.
Officers said they believe she was drunk.
It's unclear exactly how the suspect gained access to the runway, but authorities said she may have crashed through a fence that surrounds the airport.
No one was hurt.
Bowden was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
